An armchair designed by Sato Oki of nendo, SPLINTER’s unique characteristic is its flowing form. The arms and legs, which were designed to appear as though they are peeling and “splintering” off from the back, have a semicircular shaped component that gives an overall light, easygoing impression. The Splinter Armchair (wooden seat) won Japan’s Good Design Award in 2014.
In addition to the upholstered or wooden seat type, there is also an available Shell Type, which is a singular back and seat unit in cushioned upholstery. This provides an added comfort for those who desire a cushioned back. Both types of Splinter chairs pair well with dining tables that use soft edges, such as KORENTO or ONE.
